I began my journey as a traveler after a few life changing experiences in 2017. I was experiencing major depression and felt that I was falling apart in a world that I was not made for. I began my healing journey when I moved up north to Arcata, California. Here I spent most of my days in the redwoods just pondering and dreaming up a life that, at that point, could only be imagined. I found a deep love within the music scene of the Grateful Deal, which ultimately lead me on tour, then to a rainbow gathering, and it was all over from there..... or it had just begun. In the summer of 2017 I decided to drop out of college, sell everything I own and hit the road with nothing but a backpack and a thumb. It was the hardest and easiest decision I ever made. It was the hardest because I had to shatter my family and friend's perception of me and what I would become, and it was the easiest because I knew deep down within my soul, that this was what I truly wanted.
I was not alone for long. I made friends very easily, in fact, easier than I ever had. I felt true support and community within the people I was around, and this is what led me to live on the Big Island of Hawaii for a few months during the winter of 2017/2018. After another Rainbow gathering there, I decided it was time to head back to the mainland, where I met up with two of my friends to travel the USA in a minivan. We toured the country for a year, holding cardboard signs and doing whatever it took to get us to the next spot. We saw amazing music, met beautiful people, and had the time of our lives. Little did I know that one of these friends would also end up being my cosmic lover and soulmate. It was after a bit more traveling that the two of us decided it was time to step in our own direction and get our own van. This is also when I started creating. I knew I had to do something to draw in an income so that we could eat, and save up for a van. Eventually, with the help of some amazing friends and family, we ended up with our first minivan, Pegasus. My partner and I traveled for about a year in this van, making art to make us move.
It was in the winter of 2019, after a year of sculpting that I developed a specific style. This "Stargate" style launched my art's popularity on Facebook and instagram. For the first time in my life, I was selling my work regularly. Around this time also our minivan blew its transmission and we were faced with finding a new vehicle. By this point we had both worked up enough funds and we were able to get ourselves a bigger conversion van, which we converted ourselves. We have been all over the country in that van, up, down, and all around. It has served us well and provided a wonderful space for expansion. I have expanded my business and artwork extensively and my partner has expanded himself in business and music as well. Somewhere along the way my artwork, something I did as a means of income to put gas in the tank and food in our mouths, has turned into a deeply rooted passion and way to express myself. It started from necessity and it has become something that I need to do as a mental health and self care regimen.
It is now years later and we are happy, healthy, and self sustaining. We have added a puppy to our traveling caravan, and we are now looking to upgrade and convert a mini school bus to live in. This is particularly exciting because that means that I will have a mobile studio and be able to create more consistently and anywhere.
I want to thank everyone who has been present on this journey. I could not have done it without the inexhaustible support that I have received. Meeting beautiful people and connecting has now become my main focus for what I do, as well as being able to share these channeled messages from the soul that I get to call art.
